We find out little about Addison nor what's behind their instant attraction that makes Fabiola (Lee Rodriguez) forget her own name. However, that quickly fizzles out and Aneesa is promptly switched out for Des's friend Addison (Terry Hu). She hooks up with Ben's ex and new inner circle member Aneesa (Megan Suri). If season one was about discovering her sexuality and season two her actively exploring it then season three is about… well, we're not entirely sure. It also serves to create common ground between Devi and her mum Nalini (Poorna Jagannathan) and contributes to the improvement of their once-fragile relationship.ĭevi isn't the only one who gets a lacklustre match, as Lee Rodriguez's Fabiola also has a tepid ride. In fact, Des seems more like a plot device to create purposeful and plausible distance between Devi and Paxton without her circling directly towards Ben. However, that ends rather abruptly before we're given a real opportunity to care about their relationship. Something she was afraid to do with Paxton because of her lack of confidence in their relationship. Their romance even revived her desire to crank things up in the intimacy department. This season sees Devi and Paxton's relationship crumble under the pressure of her insecurity.įollowing the break-up, she attempts to kiss a frog to get back on the dating wagon (mixing metaphors but you catch the drift) before ending up with new love interest Des (Anirudh Pisharody).ĭes is like a Paxton and Ben hybrid angel, all of the looks plus the ability to challenge her intellectually. It was difficult to choose, both had their merits.įor Ben, it was his sarcastic wit and intelligence for Paxton, his easy-going nature, kindness and not to mention those abs. He was within reach, could she really give that up for Ben Gross, her nemesis turned crush? He was the unattainable dream made attainable. It was the fact that while Ben (Jaren Lewison) might have seemed the more compatible match, Devi had been thirsting for Paxton for quite a while. ![]() What made the will-they-won't-they love triangle between Devi, Ben and Paxton Hall-Yoshida (any excuse to say his full name right?) gripping was the palpable tension. The love enthusiast drifts from one boring romantic tryst to another without it meaning very much because each romance is too dull to care about. All of them really, but none more so than with Devi. They've gone from utterly intriguing to fizzle-less. It's in the relationships that once had us on tenterhooks. Where the show has lost its way is not within the characters who have all gone through some chrysalis state emerging on the other side more mature yet still loveable.
